Kin Folk Photos is now My LIP Service Project, a share site on Shutterfly where I am archiving thousands of family photos I have inherited from both my mom and Dave’s mom.
My Life In Pictures – could be my life, your life, your loved ones lives, or all the above. All kinds of photos you will find, from family gatherings to parties with friends and random candid pics like the one above featuring my mom’s uncle in nineteen-forty-something. If you know or have ever known someone from our families, well then it is entirely possible that a photo of you could wind up here, too! Both families took lots of photos.
If you would like access to the private site on Shutterfly, follow these steps:
1. Go to mylipserviceproject.com.
2. Click on “Member sign in” on the top right.
3. If you have a Shutterfly account, sign in. If you do not, click on “Sign up,” located below the sign in area. (Your name, email address and a password are required to join.)
4. Once you are signed in to your Shutterfly account, click on “Ask to become a member” near the top right of the page.
5. Enter your name, and if I do not know you, please type in the optional message box who you know (or knew).
I will receive an email and (most likely) approve you within a few hours. You will receive an email letting you know you have been approved. You should then see all of the contents on the site.
Because this site contains somewhat sensitive information, including photos of individuals who are not exactly thrilled about my project, I am treating this site as I do my photo albums and scrapbooks. From 1992 to 2007, I put together over 15 photo albums, and was proud to show them off. No one ever objected to having their picture in one of my albums, nor did I ever think anyone might. I realize the Internet is a bit different, but there are things I can do to make it not that different. I can know who is looking at my photo albums.
Once you become a member and sign-in, you will see additional tabs toward the top of the page other than “Home” and “Events,” showing the different pages available to view. Click on a tab to view that page. If you do not see additional tabs, you are either not a member or are not signed-in. Again, look for “Member sign in” toward the top right-hand corner of the page.
